August 9, 2008: Bare Essentials
Yay! I've finished my first novel synopsis.
Boo! It's thirty pages.
I'm guessing that isn't what most agents and editors have in mind.
Now I'm off to write a synopsis of the synopsis.

Writing the longer synopsis is a necessary step before writing the shorter synopsis, I've found. If you can get the short synopsis down to one single-spaced page, with a paragraph each for beginning, middle, and end, you'll be well on your way. I've found that the "end" paragraph is the largest, for some reason. Don't forget to include name, address, phone number, email address, title, genre, word count, and target audience up at the top.

Good luck Will. I for one am looking forward to your skewed exposé of the entire publishing process.
Nose to the grindstone...
