October 3, 2007: Year's Best
Aimee and I chugged over to Barnes and Noble last night in a torrential rain to pick up The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror 2007 the minute it hit the stands, and I was happy to discover that my story "Solidity" earned an honorable mention nod! It originally appeared in Travel Guide to the Haunted Mid-Atlantic, but it is available now in my collection, Cthulhu Fhtagn, Baby!
It has always been a real crowd-pleaser at conventions, and it has always been one of my favorite stories (the last in what my friends call "The Bum Trilogy").
I wrote it in maybe two sittings of an hour or two each, and I've noticed that the faster I write, the better I write. Ellen Datlow seems to agree, and I hope you will, too!
