About Writing Gym

People ask a lot of questions about the Writing Gym, mostly along the lines of "What's in it for you?" Perhaps your answers are here.

What is the Writing Gym?

The Writing Gym is a Web site where writers can read about the craft and business of writing in practical terms with opportunities to practice what they learn.

Too many sources provide writing advice in esoteric terms without anything concrete beneath it. Here, we try to give you solid advice and solid practice: only what you need and nothing more.

When did the Writing Gym start?

The Writing Gym came online on June 27, 2001 after three months of development.

Can I contribute to the Writing Gym?

If you have an essay, exercise, or lesson that generally fits our format (a list of guidelines followed by explications for each), visit our submissions area.

Who is Will Ludwigsen?

Will Ludwigsen is a professional technical and horror writer (crossover genres, certainly) with short fiction appearing in places like Weird Tales and Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine, and technical documentation appearing for many corporations and government agencies.

Before settling into a life of writing, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Florida, a certification to teach secondary English from the University of North Florida, and a Master of Arts in English from the same school.

Though he enjoys writing, he's always been a teacher at heart, and he founded the Writing Gym to enable writers on the Web to learn about the craft and business of writing in a completely demystified atmosphere.

For more information about Will, refer to his Web site www.will-ludwigsen.com.
